The new multimodal transport model has achieved two-way connectivity along the central route of the Pan-Asian Railway. The launch of the "Kunming Land Port" train has established round-trip connectivity between China and Malaysia, marking the first dual-connectivity link between Malaysia and a coastal city on the Indian Ocean. This also lays the foundation for the development of the Indian Ocean land-sea transport corridor. As the departure city, Kunming's role as a land port hub has become increasingly prominent, enhancing its radiating influence across Southeast Asia and promoting a higher level of openness in the Yunnan region.

The new multimodal transport model is elevating freight transport on the China-Laos Railway to a new level. Since its opening, the China-Laos Railway has greatly benefited people in both countries and deepened economic and cultural exchanges. In terms of freight transport, as of early November, cargo volume on the railway has exceeded 70 million tons, solidifying its role as a "golden channel" for exchanges between China and ASEAN. The integration of multimodal transport injects new vitality into the China-Laos Railway, offering significant potential for increased freight capacity.

The new multimodal transport model ensures efficient and convenient cargo transportation. Multimodal transport, which involves two or more modes of transportation using containerized cargo, not only reduces loading and unloading time but also enhances cargo safety by minimizing losses due to repeated handling. Moreover, it effectively addresses the "last mile" challenge in railway transport. The combination of rail and road transport greatly improves the flexibility of cargo delivery. While traditional freight transport often relied on station-to-station models, multimodal transport now enables railway cargo to be delivered directly to the doorstep.

Multimodal transport brings new energy to the China-Laos Railway, benefiting countries along its route and expanding its economic influence. It provides a powerful impetus for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and contributes to building a shared future for humanity.
